What is a chair, for example? One of our most fundamental props, we largely can’t imagine otherwise. But what exactly are we doing when we sit in a chair? In this graduate workshop for educators, we look at the role of chairs in educational spaces. From the arrangement of banal and interested space to the urgency of musical chairs, to the intricacy of postural adjustment, we work with and develop the sculptural and performative affordances of the common classroom chair.
